Exeter Heart is a well-established and respected private practice at the Nuffield Hospital in Exeter. They have selected doctors who are national leaders to provide comprehensive expertise in all areas of cardiology; a group of expert problem-solvers working together to give you the best possible cardiac care.
We were tasked with creating a new brand for Exeter Heart that presents them as the first choice for private heart health care in the South West. The brand would be deployed across corporate stationery, advertising and marketing materials, branded merchandise, and a new website.
The solution was to give the Exeter Heart brand a cleaner and more modern identity. We created a bespoke logo with a heart icon paired with contemporary typography to present an up-to-date, accurate, caring and premium feel.
The heart icon integrates a lowercase ‘e’, nodding to the organisation’s geography. The logo fonts were chosen to blend a softer, more approachable serif typeface for the primary wording with a clean, official, and professional uppercase sans-serif positioning statement.

To launch the new logo, we applied the brand across a series of adverts. The adverts were purposely simple, clean, and clear—everything you want from cardiologists. The branded materials are uncluttered, tidy, and confident.
When a loved one ends up in A&E with a heart scare, it can be terrifying.
Before the new brand launched, 85% of website enquiries came from worried family members whilst in the waiting room at A&E. This fact convinced us of the need to ensure the new website should be clean, tidy, uncluttered, and serve up easily digestible chunks of information swiftly on a smartphone. The website user journey was designed around the key questions most potential patients would ask.
The site also provides short and clear explanations of all the specialisms, conditions, tests and treatments.

In addition, we created a ‘Meet the Team’ section to help bridge the gap between cardiologists and website users.
Another essential factor to consider was making it easier for GPs to refer patients who don’t want to wait for the NHS waiting times. Our solution was to build a GP referral tool into the menu, allowing doctors to complete a simple form and attach supporting notes and documents. GPs have given good feedback on this tool, and Exeter Heart receives a steady flow of referrals.

Exeter Heart has had positive feedback on their rebrand and supporting assets. To launch the brand, they, alongside the Nuffield, hosted a symposium at Sandy Park, Exeter. At this event, they revealed the new brand to a room full of GPs, delivered keynote talks on their specialist subjects and demonstrated how to use the GP referral tool. The event was a great success and the new brand and website have been released into the wild, to reflect better the life-changing difference that Exeter Heart make to their clients.
